Amidst rising tensions in West Asia and global uncertainty regarding oil supply, the Indian government has delivered reassuring news to the common people. According to government sources, there are currently no plans to increase petrol and diesel prices in the country.

Sources also stated that India’s energy situation is stronger than before. The country has sufficient reserves of oil and gas, thus there is no immediate concern regarding supply.

According to government sources, recent review meetings have indicated that India’s energy supply is in a much stronger position compared to before. Some time ago, concerns were raised about LPG reserves, but the situation has now significantly improved. In such a scenario, the government is confident that even if a global crisis arises, its impact on India will remain limited.

Government’s Stance on Petrol-Diesel Prices is Clear

The government has clarified that there are currently no plans to increase petrol and diesel prices. According to sources, the focus is on keeping fuel prices stable to provide relief to the common people.

In fact, in recent days, the opposition had alleged that petrol and diesel prices might increase due to international circumstances. Responding to this, the government stated that such claims are completely baseless.

The government reiterated that no decision has been taken to increase the prices of these two fuels at present.

Government’s Clarification Regarding LPG Prices Also

Government sources also clarified that it is not correct to link the statement given on petrol and diesel prices with LPG. According to them, the claims being made regarding LPG prices are misleading.

The government states that this issue is being politicized, whereas the real situation is different. According to sources, the allegations being made about LPG have no direct connection to the current situation.

Dependence on Strait of Hormuz Decreased

Amidst rising tensions in West Asia, concerns persist regarding the oil route passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Keeping such circumstances in mind, India has changed its energy strategy.

According to government sources, India has now diversified its sources for crude oil imports. Earlier, about 60 percent of crude oil came from routes and countries other than the Strait of Hormuz, but now this figure has increased to approximately 70 percent. This means that India’s dependence on this sensitive sea lane has decreased compared to before.

The government also stated that the country has an adequate stock of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). Several countries have also offered to supply LNG to India, which is expected to reduce the likelihood of any major problems regarding gas availability in the future.

Furthermore, Qatar has also assured India that as soon as supply routes normalize, it will resume gas supply to India. This is expected to make the energy supply situation even more stable.
