A tremendous clash is being witnessed at the box office these days between ‘Border 2’ and ‘Mardaani 3’. Sunny Deol’s army is spending its second week in theaters, while Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani 3’ has entered the field with its first week. Although Rani Mukerji’s film caught good speed over the weekend, the direction of the wind changed as soon as ‘Border 2’ entered the 300 crore club. It seems that Shivani Roy’s shine is fading in front of Sunny Deol’s ‘roar’ and the dominance of ‘Border 2’ at the box office seems to be weighing heavy on ‘Mardaani 3’.
Box Office Report
Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani 3’ started at the box office as per expectations, but its speed seems to be slowing down as the working days arrive. The film registered a fantastic growth of 81% on its opening weekend and collected a net of 17.50 crores by Sunday. However, Monday’s litmus test proved challenging for the film, where earnings dropped and were restricted to between 1 and 1.24 crores.
Border 2’s Earnings Storm
After a journey of four days, the film’s net collection in the domestic market is around 18.5 to 19.5 crores, while globally it has done business of about 28 crores. The competition with a big film like ‘Border 2’ and the heavy drop on Monday makes it clear that being a mid-budget thriller, becoming a long-race horse now seems a bit difficult for ‘Mardaani 3’.
Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh’s multistarrer war drama ‘Border 2’ is not taking the name of stopping at the box office. Even on the 11th day of release, the film maintains its strong hold. The film had crossed the huge figure of 301 crores at the Indian box office within its first 10 days. A tremendous jump was seen in the film’s earnings in the second weekend, where a collection of 17.75 crores on Saturday and 22.5 crores on Sunday was recorded.
However, there has definitely been some drop in earnings on the second Monday (Day 11), which is estimated to be between 3 to 9 crore rupees. With this magnificent performance, the film’s total Indian net collection has now reached close to 398 crores, while in the worldwide market, the film has left the 400 crore club far behind.
