In a hit-and-run case in Delhi’s Dwarka area, 23-year-old bike rider Sahil lost his life. He was going to the office on his bike as usual when a minor driving an SUV hit him.
Speaking to the media, the accused teenager’s father described the incident as a “tragic mistake”. He said his family is deeply hurt by this accident. “I am also a father… what happened was a mistake. We are deeply saddened by it,” he said.
It is being reported that the minor did not have a driving license. According to information, he was making a reel while driving and his sister was also present in the car. A video of this incident has also surfaced. The police detained the accused and presented him before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), from where he has been sent to an observation home as per further procedure.
Accused minor’s father apologized
According to the police, keeping in mind the Class 10 board examinations, the accused minor has been granted interim bail so that he can take his exams. Describing this accident as extremely tragic, the accused’s father said that as soon as he found out that someone met with an accident with his son’s car, he panicked.
According to him, his wife informed him about this incident over the phone. He also said that he was being threatened at the police station. The father admitted that his son made a mistake. “It was a big mistake, which should not have happened,” he said.
Sahil’s mother claims—Reel-making took son’s life
23-year-old Sahil’s mother, Inna Makan, has alleged that the accident was not just an accident, but a result of negligence and stunts. She says that the accused teenager had taken out his Scorpio car with the intention of making a video, and the high speed of the vehicle is clearly visible in the viral clip.
According to her, the car was being driven in the wrong lane and a stunt was performed in front of a bus. An e-rickshaw was standing on the left side of the bus, so Sahil tried to look for space on the right side, just then the Scorpio hit his bike. After this, the vehicle also hit another car parked on the roadside, but the driver did not even apply the brakes.
Sahil’s mother said that this cannot be called a ‘mistake’. In her words, “This is a criminal mindset. They were doing stunts to make videos and due to that same reel, my son lost his life.”
