Stock Market Today: Despite rising tensions in the Middle East and the ongoing situation between Iran-Israel, the Indian stock market saw a positive start on Tuesday, March 10, the second trading day of the week.
As trading began, key indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 opened with gains. The 30-share Sensex surged by approximately 809.57 points (1.04%) to reach the level of 78,375.73.
A strong jump was also recorded in Nifty 50. This index opened with a gain of approximately 252.75 points (1.05%) at the level of 24,280.80, which strengthened investor confidence in the market.
The market maintained a bullish sentiment till around 9:20 AM. BSE Sensex was trading at the level of 78,055 with a gain of approximately 489 points. Meanwhile, Nifty 50 also jumped 163 points to trade at the level of 24,191.
BSE Top Gainers and Losers
Among the key shares of BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), InterGlobe Aviation (Indigo), Asian Paints, Titan Company, Larsen & Toubro, and Tata Steel were included as top gainers.
Meanwhile, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Power Grid Corporation of India, and Tech Mahindra were prominent names among the falling shares.
How Was the Market on Monday?
The Indian stock market witnessed a significant decline during trading on Monday, March 9. At the end of the day, both key indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 closed in the red. Sensex closed down by 1,352.74 points (1.71%) at 77,566.16, while Nifty 50 fell by 422.40 points (1.73%) to the level of 24,028.05.
Top Gainers and Losers
Among the key shares of BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange), Reliance Industries, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Tech Mahindra, and HCLTech closed with gains. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, State Bank of India, InterGlobe Aviation (Indigo), and Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone were included among the falling shares.
Regarding sectoral indices, Nifty 100, Nifty Bank, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Smallcap 100, and Nifty Midcap 100 recorded declines. However, Nifty IT shares saw a rise.
In Monday’s trading, only 5 out of 30 shares in the BSE basket closed with gains, while 25 shares recorded declines.
