In West Bengal, amidst the election atmosphere, administrative activity has intensified. The Election Commission has taken a major step by ordering a reshuffle in the police department. Under this, a total of 12 officers from Kolkata Police and State Police have been transferred.
In this action, several senior officers of Kolkata Police have been removed from their important positions, clearly indicating strictness regarding security arrangements before the elections.
Sudip Sarkar also transferred
Under this reshuffle in the police department, Soma Das Mitra, DIG of CID, has been appointed as Joint Commissioner (Crime) in Kolkata Police. Meanwhile, Sudip Sarkar, DIG (Personnel), has been made Joint Commissioner (Headquarters).
Debasmita Das gets new responsibility
Debasmita Das, DIG of the Special Task Force, has been assigned the responsibility of Joint Commissioner (Intelligence) in Kolkata Police. Additionally, the Election Commission has also removed the Deputy Commissioners of North, South, East, and South-East Divisions of Kolkata Police from their posts.
New appointments also made
Under the reshuffle, VSR Ananthnag has been made Deputy Commissioner (South) and Pradeep Kumar Yadav has been made Deputy Commissioner (North). Meanwhile, Saikat Ghosh, DC of Bhangar Division, has been transferred and appointed as DC of South-East Division.
