Badrinath Dham Portals Open, Char Dham Yatra 2026 Begins with Grandly Adorned Temple

With the commencement of the Char Dham Yatra, an atmosphere of faith among devotees is being witnessed at the pilgrimage sites. After the opening of the portals of Kedarnath Dham, the doors of Badrinath Dham, located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, have now also been opened for devotees. After approximately 149 days, the darshan of Lord Badrivishal has resumed, creating an atmosphere of enthusiasm throughout the entire region.

On this occasion, the portals of the temple were opened with rituals in the presence of Pushkar Singh Dhami. As the temple doors opened at around 6:15 AM, thousands of devotees had the privilege of witnessing this sacred moment by being present there.

As soon as the portals opened, the entire atmosphere resonated with chants of “Jai Badrivishal,” and the surrounding area was filled with devotional energy. This scene became a grand example of the confluence of faith and tradition, which was also witnessed by devotees from across the country and abroad.

This time, grand decorations have been made to welcome the devotees at Badrinath Dham. The temple complex has been decorated with about 25 quintals of flowers, making the entire atmosphere look extremely divine and attractive. A special attraction this year was that, for the first time, “Om Lakshmipati Namo” was written through floral decorations in the temple. Along with this, sacred messages like “Jai Shri Badri Narayan” and “Vaikunthaya Namo” have also been presented through floral decorations, deepening the spiritual experience for the devotees.

The portals of the Char Dham temples are closed at a fixed time every year. The primary reason for this is that all these pilgrimage sites are located in high Himalayan regions, which face heavy snowfall and extreme cold during winter. Due to the harsh weather and snow-covered paths, the portals are closed every year between October and November, keeping the safety of devotees in mind. After this, they are reopened in April-May of the following year when the weather becomes normal. This entire journey lasts for about six months, during which millions of devotees from home and abroad arrive for darshan.

With the restart of the Char Dham Yatra, religious activities in Uttarakhand have once again reached their peak. This year, the yatra began on April 19 on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya with the opening of the portals of Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham. Following this, on April 22, the portals of Kedarnath Dham were also opened for devotees. Now, with the opening of the portals of Badrinath Dham, the entire Char Dham Yatra 2026 has officially and systematically commenced, creating an atmosphere of devotion, faith, and enthusiasm in the entire region.
