Important news related to Bill Gates has surfaced. He will no longer give a speech at the AI Summit held in Delhi. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation shared information regarding this decision on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The foundation informed that Ankur Vora will now take the stage in his place. Ankur Vora leads the Africa and India programs at the Gates Foundation, and his address will focus on the foundation’s current initiatives, grassroots projects, and future strategies.

According to the organizers, this decision was taken so that the summit remains centered on its core themes and priorities, and the focus of the discussion is maintained broadly on important issues related to AI.

The Gates Foundation has clarified that there has been no reduction in its commitment to India. The foundation stated that programs related to health, nutrition, education, and overall development in the country will continue as before.

According to the organization, this decision has been taken keeping only the summit’s schedule and its priorities in mind. It will have no impact on ongoing projects or partnerships in India. The foundation reiterated that it will continue to advance its developmental goals with full strength in collaboration with the Government of India and other partners.

Heads of state from about 20 countries, including French President Macron, will be present at the inaugural session, which has further increased the global importance of this summit.

According to a report by the Press Trust of India (PTI), former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Wednesday (February 18, 2026) that India has the potential to lead in the field of Artificial Intelligence on the strength of its vast talent pool and robust digital public infrastructure. He believes that India can not only move forward in AI but also present a global example of its widespread and responsible use.

Sunak made this remark during a dialogue session at the AI Impact Summit 2026 held in Delhi. This discussion was organized by Carnegie India in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation and other partners.

In his address, he said that different perspectives regarding AI are seen around the world. According to him, there is more enthusiasm and trust regarding AI in India, while at present, an atmosphere of apprehension and caution regarding AI is more visible in many Western countries.
