This time, a significant upheaval has been observed in the ICC rankings. ICC today released the new T20 rankings, which saw several major changes. An Australian player has directly secured the top spot by making an eight-place jump in one go. Due to this, the rankings of many other players have been affected. Let’s find out what’s new in the rankings this time and which batter succeeded in reaching the top.
ICC today released the Women’s T20 rankings, in which Australian batter Georgia Voll has secured the top spot. Her rating is now 815, which is her highest career rating to date. She had never reached this level before.
Georgia Voll recently played a magnificent innings of 101 runs off just 53 balls against West Indies in a T20 International, hitting 9 fours and 6 sixes. The result of this performance is now clearly visible in her ranking.
Setback for Beth Mooney and Smriti Mandhana
After Georgia Voll reached the top, Australia’s Beth Mooney had to vacate the number one spot and will now have to settle for second place. The rating difference between the two is also significant — Georgia Voll’s rating is 815, while Beth Mooney’s is 788. This means it will not be easy to dislodge Georgia from the top spot anytime soon.
Meanwhile, India’s Smriti Mandhana has also dropped one spot and is now at number three, with her rating at 770.
Amelia Kerr Gains Two Places
Apart from Beth Mooney and Smriti Mandhana, Hayley Matthews and Laura Wolvaardt have also dropped one spot each in the rankings. Laura Wolvaardt is now at number 5.
Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Amelia Kerr has gained two places and has now reached number 6 with a rating of 730. This is also her highest career rating to date.
On the other hand, Tahlia McGrath, India’s Shafali Verma, and Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu have each dropped two places.
