The Special Cell of Delhi Police, in a major operation, has busted a terror, arms smuggling, and espionage network linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and Babbar Khalsa International. During this operation, a total of 11 suspects were arrested from Delhi and Punjab.
During the investigation, based on the information provided by the accused, 9 solar-powered CCTV cameras were recovered from various locations, which had been installed in sensitive areas. Security agencies have removed and seized them.
In addition, 4 pistols and 24 live cartridges were also recovered from the accused. Preliminary investigation has revealed that arms were being smuggled through this network to carry out terror activities.
Grenade Attack Plot Foiled
According to sources, handlers based in Pakistan were behind this entire module, planning grenade attacks in sensitive areas of India. Following a terror module previously exposed in Ghaziabad, the Delhi Police Special Cell had been continuously receiving inputs that people there were installing CCTV cameras in sensitive locations and sending their live feed to Pakistan. A similar network was active in Punjab and Delhi along these lines.
How the Espionage Network was Exposed
Two teams of the Special Cell jointly initiated an investigation into this module and exposed this network operating from Pakistan. The investigation revealed that this gang was involved in arms smuggling, plotting grenade attacks, and espionage using solar and thermal CCTV cameras.
During the operation, the NDR team of the Special Cell first arrested 6 accused, comprising 3 from Punjab and 3 from Delhi. 9 solar CCTV cameras were recovered from them, which had been installed near sensitive and defense-related areas. These cameras have been removed and seized.
