‘Jana Nayagan’ Leak Case: Censor Board Issues Clarification, Denies Fault

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has dismissed reports of superstar Vijay’s film ‘Jana Nayagan’ being leaked, calling them false. The board clarified its position on the matter, stating that there was no negligence on its part.

According to a report from the Press Information Bureau, the CBFC stated that a secure ‘Key Delivery Message’ (KDM) system is used for all films sent for theatrical release. This system protects the film’s content with a password, and access to the KDM is restricted solely to the producer or filmmaker.

The CBFC has clarified that it is not possible to access or view any film without a valid KDM. This system is designed to maintain the security and confidentiality of the film.

The board also stated in its statement that the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) of ‘Jana Nayagan’ was handed over to the applicant in Mumbai on March 17 with an official receipt. Since then, the content has been entirely with the applicant.

Makers Issued Strict Warning

Production company KVN Productions has clearly stated that viewing, downloading, sharing, or disseminating leaked scenes of the film through any platform—such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, or any website and torrent—is illegal and constitutes a violation of copyright law.

This matter comes to light at a time when the film’s release has already been postponed, and there is a delay in obtaining certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

Uncertainty Over Release Continues

Vijay’s film was initially scheduled to be released in cinemas on January 9, 2026, but it was later postponed. Currently, the film has not received certification, due to which the situation regarding its new release date remains unclear.
