Jaipur | March 29, 2026. “Tamaso Ma Jyotirgamaya” meaning ‘Lead me from darkness to light’—this eternal message of Indian culture was seen coming alive on the ground in the Pink City (Jaipur). Eyes are the most precious gift from God, without which this beautiful world is just deep darkness. There can be no greater virtuous act and spiritual satisfaction than becoming a means to remove this darkness from someone’s life and bring light back into their eyes. With this sacred sentiment and the firm resolve of ‘blindness prevention and control’, a massive free eye check-up mega camp was organized in Jaipur on Sunday, setting a new and historic milestone in the field of social service.
This one-day mega camp was organized in the extensive premises of S.S.G. Parik P.G. College, Bani Park, under the joint auspices of Saksham Sanstha Jaipur and Mahesh Bhagwati Baldwa Foundation. Such a massive crowd of needy people seeking health benefits flocked to the camp that the entire campus resonated with the slogan ‘Service to humanity is service to God’. This mega camp, which ran continuously from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, presented a unique example of selfless service, dedication, and excellent management, which is being discussed across the entire state today.
Direct Impact on 3618 Lives
The success of any medical camp is measured by the number of people who benefit from it and the quality of facilities provided to them. The scale and success of this camp can be gauged simply by its statistics. A total of 3618 people were registered for free in this day-long mega event. This number itself indicates the great need for accessible and high-quality medical facilities in society. After examination, 3265 patients were provided with free medicines according to their needs. The greatest relief was that 1682 beneficiaries were distributed spectacles on the spot according to their vision power (number). The sparkle of happiness and satisfaction on the faces of the elderly and youth who had complained of blurred vision, as soon as they put on their spectacles, was the greatest achievement of this event. Additionally, 360 patients suffering from cataracts, glaucoma, and other serious eye diseases have been referred for surgery using state-of-the-art technology. The organizers have clarified that completely free and safe operations for all these 360 patients will be ensured in the coming days.
Smoothly running an event of such a large scale without any hindrance was no less than a challenge. But a team of 25 senior and renowned ophthalmologists, 50 trained optometrists, and over 250 dedicated volunteers made this seemingly impossible task possible. These medical personnel and volunteers provided their continuous services for eight hours straight, without regard for fatigue. The entire process, from organizing patient queues to initial examinations, thorough check-ups by doctors, medicine distribution, and spectacle fitting, was carried out in a highly scientific and humane manner.
The Realization of ‘Antyodaya’
The inaugural session of the mega camp was extremely grand and dignified, attended by several renowned personalities from politics, social service, and the medical world. Rajasthan BJP State President Madan Rathore was present as the chief guest at the event. On stage with him were Babu Lal, Prant Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Abhay Pargal, National Co-Secretary of Saksham Sanstha, who marked their presence as key speakers. The program was chaired by Bhagwati Baldwa, Chairperson of Mahesh Bhagwati Baldwa Foundation.
Formally inaugurating the camp by lighting the lamp, BJP State President Madan Rathore, in his eloquent address, said, “The dream of ‘Antyodaya’ truly materializes only when high-level health facilities reach the person standing in the last row of society. This is true ‘Narayan Seva’ (service to God through humanity).” He highly praised this monumental effort by Saksham Sanstha and Baldwa Foundation, calling it commendable for the entire nation. Rathore lauded the work of ‘Saksham’ saying, “Saksham is no longer just an organization; it has become a national movement for the holistic upliftment of persons with disabilities and the needy. The massive eye mega camp organized by Saksham for the service of millions of devotees during the Ramdevra Fair in Rajasthan is a unique example of service on the world stage. Additionally, Saksham’s projects are running in every corner of the country, providing a new and positive direction to a society that has gone astray.”
Bhagwati Baldwa, Chairperson of Mahesh Bhagwati Baldwa Foundation, who was presiding over the program, said in her emotional address that the path of service is the truest path in life. She said, “When we become a means to bring light back into the life of a helpless person, there can be no greater spiritual satisfaction and God’s grace than that. Our foundation has always worked for the deprived sections of society, and fulfilling this social responsibility, today we are working hand-in-hand with Saksham Sanstha. It is our privilege to be a part of this sacred mega event for blindness prevention and control.
On this occasion, renowned industrialist and social worker Mahesh Baldwa and BJP MLA from Hawa Mahal assembly constituency, Balmukund Acharya, also specially attended, inquired about the patients’ well-being, and greatly encouraged the entire medical team and volunteers. In the final phase of the program, all guests, main speakers, and organizers jointly delivered a strong and clear message to society.
To manage such a large crowd, a spacious and well-equipped campus was needed. The Secretary of S.S.G. Parik P.G. College, Laxmikant Parik, and his entire faculty provided great support in willingly making their vast campus available for this mega camp and smoothly managing all basic arrangements. Additionally, Sant Kumar, Director of Shankara Group of Colleges, also provided significant support for this humanitarian initiative.
No major event can be successful unless the vision and hard work of the team behind it are clear. The entire credit for taking this event from paper to ground and making it historically successful goes to the organizing committee.
Thanks to the organizational skills, medical expertise, and selfless service of program convenor Dr. Ashok Singh Solanki and Saksham Sanstha’s State Secretary Dr. Kuldeep Mishra, along with Kamal Kumar, Dr. Mahavir Saini, Dr. Rajesh Goyal, Dr. Madhu Goyal, Dr. Deepak Maheshwari, Major Niti Bansal, Professor N.M. Sharma, and Pramila Dubey, smiles returned to the faces of 3618 people. Additionally, all office bearers of the organization and hundreds of grassroots workers worked tirelessly day and night. This free eye check-up mega camp organized in the Pink City was not just a medical event, but a ‘ray of hope’ for that section of society compelled to lose their eyesight due to financial hardship or lack of awareness.
