Amazon Layoff Rumors: Company Responds to Claims of 14,000 Job Cuts

 

Reports of large-scale layoffs are once again circulating at Amazon, one of the world’s largest tech companies. Such reports are going viral on social media and job platforms, claiming that the company might lay off around 14,000 employees. However, amidst these speculations, an official response from the company has now emerged.

On Wednesday, a report rapidly went viral, claiming that after laying off 16,000 employees in January, the company is now preparing for another major layoff. This information surfaced on the job forum Blind, where an alleged insider spoke of large-scale restructuring within the company.

Amazon’s Response

Responding to these claims, Amazon clarified that such reports are false and have no concrete basis. According to the company, there is currently no official plan for laying off 14,000 employees.

How AI is Changing the Way We Work

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has already indicated that the increasing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will change the way work is done. In a memo sent to employees in June 2025, he stated that due to AI, the need for some roles might decrease in the future.
