The long-awaited wait of the people of Uttar Pradesh is now coming to an end. Preparations for the inauguration of the Noida International Airport being built in Jewar have begun. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath informed that March 28, 2026, has been proposed as the inauguration date, and an invitation has also been sent to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this occasion.
This project is considered a significant gift not just for Western Uttar Pradesh but for the entire NCR, especially being seen as an important present during the occasion of Navratri.
Recently, DGCA issued an Aerodrome License to this airport, which is considered an important approval for its operation. This directly means that the airport has met security, infrastructure, and technical standards, and the path for the commencement of flights from here is almost clear.
The airport being built in Jewar is set to become one of the largest airports in the country. It is being developed in different phases, where the first phase itself will have the capacity to handle a large number of passengers. Further phases will see an increase in its facilities and capacity with expansion.
With the commencement of this airport, people in NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh will get great convenience. Passengers from cities like Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, and Aligarh will no longer have to travel a long distance to Delhi Airport. Additionally, this project is expected to boost employment opportunities, attract investment, and promote tourism in the region.
Regarding flights, the inauguration is proposed for March 28, but the exact date for the start of regular flights will be decided thereafter. It is believed that flight services may begin here sometime after the inauguration.
The start of the airport will bring a major change in connectivity across the entire NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh. Business travel and cargo movement, in particular, will gain momentum, which will also promote industrial development. For people in nearby cities, this airport will save both time and cost.
Furthermore, due to the new airport, the hotel, transport, and service sectors are also expected to accelerate. Thousands of local people can get employment opportunities, which will strengthen the economic activities of the region.
The final schedule for the start of flights has not yet been released, but after receiving the necessary approvals, it is expected that domestic flights will begin here shortly after the inauguration. Gradually, international flights may also start operating, making this airport a major hub for global connectivity.
