Political Uproar Over ‘Atif Ahmed’ Character in Dhurandhar-2, SP-AIMIM-Congress Raise Questions

Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar-2’ is making a strong impact at the box office immediately after its release. The film has set a new record with a spectacular opening of around 145 crore rupees. However, along with its success, it has also become embroiled in a political controversy.

In fact, the film portrays a character said to resemble former SP MP and strongman leader Atiq Ahmed. The character in the film is named ‘Atif Ahmed’. According to the story, this character is shown to have connections with organizations like Pakistan’s ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

The film also depicts that he was allegedly involved in a counterfeit currency network and was part of a conspiracy to form a government in Uttar Pradesh with Pakistan’s support. This has intensified the debate in political circles regarding the film.

Political statements have now intensified regarding the controversy over the character of Atif Ahmed in ‘Dhurandhar-2’. Samajwadi Party leader ST Hasan has targeted the filmmakers on this issue.

He stated that such a character was deliberately created with the aim of increasing the film’s earnings. According to him, such films attempt to tarnish someone’s image.

ST Hasan alleged that the film attempted to spread hatred in society. He also added that when questions are raised, attempts are made to evade responsibility by calling it a fictional story.

Now, Congress and AIMIM leaders have also strongly objected to the ongoing controversy surrounding ‘Dhurandhar-2’. AIMIM leader Waris Pathan alleged that the film attempted to defame Muslims. He stated that such films are made under a well-thought-out conspiracy, whose aim is to spread hatred in society.

Waris Pathan also mentioned that many propaganda films have been made before, and filmmakers serve such content solely for profit, without caring about its impact on society. According to him, lies, hatred, and propaganda are being spread through films.

Meanwhile, Congress leaders have also expressed displeasure over this film. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that no amount of criticism for this film is enough. He questioned whether such films are attempting to promote violence in society.
