A serious incident of violent clash has come to light at Gurudwara Singh Sabha in Moers city, located near Berlin, Germany. Following this incident, an atmosphere of tension has developed in the area. According to initial information, at least 11 people have been injured, while some other reports state this number to be over 40.
The incident occurred on Sunday when devotees were gathering for prayer at the Gurudwara. It is reported that a pre-existing dispute between two groups suddenly escalated, and the situation went out of control.
Within a short time, the matter turned into violence, and a confrontation began between the two sides. Chaos broke out at the scene following the incident, and several people were injured. The administration has started an investigation into the matter, and the situation is being monitored.
During the incident, the situation worsened further when pepper spray was allegedly used first. This spread panic among those present, creating an atmosphere of chaos.
Subsequently, the matter became more serious as some individuals began using knives, Kirpans, and other sharp weapons. Due to the sudden attack, people started running here and there to save themselves.
According to eyewitnesses, sounds like pistol fire were also heard during this time, further increasing the panic. However, some people later expressed concern that it might not have been real gunfire and could possibly have been a blank fire. The police are investigating the entire matter from all angles.
After the situation deteriorated, the police took immediate action and deployed a heavy security force at the scene. Around 100 police officers were sent to the vicinity of the Gurudwara, including Germany’s special commando unit SEK. The entire area was cordoned off, surveillance was increased, and monitoring was also done via helicopter to prevent any unpleasant situation.
One suspect has been taken into custody during this incident, and the police are investigating the matter deeply.
According to eyewitnesses, an argument started over an old dispute between two groups, which gradually escalated into a physical fight. During the clash, the situation became so bad that the turbans of some people were even removed, which is considered highly disrespectful in the Sikh religion.
The most concerning part was that some people used Kirpans to attack each other in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib, causing deep resentment and concern throughout the community. The police are now investigating every aspect of this entire case.
